This modern transitional condo in downtown Charleston, designed by Erika Frizol, showcases the designer’s skillful blend of multiple premium cabinetry lines to achieve a cohesive, sophisticated aesthetic throughout the home. The kitchen features Adornus frameless cabinetry with clean shaker doors, creating a contemporary foundation that’s both sleek and timeless. A custom hood serves as a sculptural focal point, while built-in appliances maintain the streamlined look. The showstopping custom island, complete with detailed paneling meticulously scribed to the floor, stretches an impressive 10 feet and anchors the space with commanding presence. Adjacent to the kitchen, a custom bar area incorporates elegant glass cabinetry for display and entertaining. The design excellence extends throughout the condo with Greenfield Custom Cabinetry complementing the kitchen, while the powder room features a striking North American Custom Cabinetry floating vanity with a reeded front and drawer storage that exemplifies modern luxury.
The project presented significant spatial challenges that required creative problem-solving to maximize both form and function in the compact urban footprint. Fitting the client’s desired 10-foot island into the smaller kitchen area while maintaining proper clearances and workflow demanded precise planning and execution. Centering this substantial island with the adjacent bar area created architectural balance and visual flow between the spaces, transforming what could have been a cramped layout into an open, airy environment. Beyond the kitchen, Erika reimagined the master bathroom’s layout to improve functionality and daily use, while the powder room received a complete transformation with its contemporary floating vanity. The result is a brightened, more efficient space that proves downtown condo living need not compromise on style or functionality, delivering the modern urban sanctuary the client envisioned.
